Hey Henlex! The main difference is "pass" is a verb and "past" is not. "past" refers to an earlier point in time ("el pasado") while "passed" refers to the movement of going by something. For example:

  • They have passed me. (Me han pasado.)
  • Yesterday is in the past. (Ayer es en el pasado.)

"Past" can also be used as an adverb, but never as a verb. For example it is used as an adverb here:

  • We drove past the restaurant.
