Para ello, se usa la palabra "there" más la forma en presente del verbo "to be" (ser o estar), por lo que "hay" se traduce como "there is" o "there are".

Diferencia entre "there is" y "there are"

"There is" es utilizado cuando se habla de una sola cosa (singular). Por ejemplo:

La contracción "there's" es muy común.

"There are" es utilizado para hablar de dos o más cosas (plural). Por ejemplo:

La contracción there're es posible, pero no es muy común.

  Hay personas en el estadio.

Para decir que no hay algo, sólo debemos usar "there" más la forma negativa del verbo "to be" en presente, isn't o aren't. El resultado sería "there isn't" (singular) y "there aren't" (plural).
